This tool helps leaders move beyond stated values and observe what their system actually produces when the room gets difficult.
The goal is not self-attack.

What This Tool Does
Pressure reveals installed leadership patterns.
This tool helps you map:

The goal is to identify what leadership is teaching the field through repeated behavior.
When to Use This
Use this when:
A leader reacts differently under pressure than they intend to.
A meeting, conflict, deadline, or mistake changes the room.
The team repeats a pattern that leadership keeps modeling or rewarding.
A leader says one thing, but the field keeps learning another.
A team becomes reactive, avoidant, unclear, defensive, or dependent under load.
A leader wants to understand what they make available in the room.
A leadership pattern needs to be installed before pressure returns.

Execution Steps
Step 1: Name the Pressure Cue
Write:
“The pressure cue was ______.”
Examples:
“The pressure cue was a missed deadline.”
“The pressure cue was a team member disagreeing with me.”
“The pressure cue was a client being upset.”
“The pressure cue was uncertainty around the next decision.”
“The pressure cue was someone exposing a mistake.”
“The pressure cue was too many competing priorities.”
This locates the trigger point.
Step 2: Name the Leadership Frame
Write:
“The frame I put around the moment was ______.”
Examples:
“The frame was that this was a threat to control.”
“The frame was that disagreement meant disrespect.”
“The frame was that the mistake made me look bad.”
“The frame was that urgency meant everything had to happen now.”
“The frame was that I had to solve it myself.”
This shows what meaning shaped the leadership response.
Step 3: Name the Leadership State
Write:
“The state I was in was ______.”
Examples:
“The state was urgency.”
“The state was frustration.”
“The state was defensiveness.”
“The state was anxiety.”
“The state was pressure.”
“The state was calm clarity.”
The state determines what becomes available.
Step 4: Name the Pattern That Became Available
Write:
“The pattern that became available was ______.”
Examples:
“The pattern that became available was control.”
“The pattern that became available was blame.”
“The pattern that became available was overexplaining.”
“The pattern that became available was avoidance.”
“The pattern that became available was ownership.”
“The pattern that became available was calm clarification.”
This identifies the installed pattern.
Step 5: Name the Behavior the Team Saw
Write:
“The behavior the team saw was ______.”
Examples:
“The team saw me interrupt.”
“The team saw me defend.”
“The team saw me take over.”
“The team saw me ask questions before reacting.”
“The team saw me clarify the priority.”
“The team saw me avoid the hard conversation.”
Leadership becomes visible through behavior.
Step 6: Name What the Behavior Made Available to the Team
Write:
“This made ______ available to the team.”
Examples:
“This made silence available to the team.”
“This made honesty available to the team.”
“This made urgency available to the team.”
“This made blame available to the team.”
“This made ownership available to the team.”
“This made calm correction available to the team.”
A leader’s behavior changes the field in which other people operate inside.
Step 7: Name the Consequence
Write:
“The consequence was ______.”
Examples:
“The consequence was less honesty.”
“The consequence was more clarity.”
“The consequence was more dependence on me.”
“The consequence was less ownership.”
“The consequence was faster correction.”
“The consequence was more anxiety in the room.”
This shows what the leadership pattern built.
Step 8: Name What Was Reinforced
Write:
“The pattern reinforced was ______.”
Examples:
“The pattern reinforced was urgency over priority.”
“The pattern reinforced was silence over truth.”
“The pattern reinforced was dependence over ownership.”
“The pattern reinforced was repair over distance.”
“The pattern reinforced was clarity over confusion.”
“The pattern reinforced was blame over learning.”
This identifies what the team is learning to repeat.
Step 9: Choose the Leadership Pattern to Install
Write:
“The leadership pattern to install is ______.”
Examples:
“The leadership pattern to install is calm clarification.”
“The leadership pattern to install is ownership before blame.”
“The leadership pattern to install is question before correction.”
“The leadership pattern to install is priority before urgency.”
“The leadership pattern to install is repair before distance.”
“The leadership pattern to install is truth before comfort.”
Keep it behavioral.
Step 10: Choose the Next Leadership Proof Rep
Write:
“The next leadership proof rep is ______.”
Examples:
“The next leadership proof rep is asking two clarifying questions before giving direction.”
“The next leadership proof rep is naming the priority before responding to urgency.”
“The next leadership proof rep is taking ownership for my part before correcting anyone else.”
“The next leadership proof rep is inviting the truth before offering a solution.”
“The next leadership proof rep is pausing before entering the meeting and choosing the state I want to bring.”
This gives the leader a concrete rep before pressure returns.
Step 11: Record Leadership Evidence
After the next proof rep, write:
“Today I proved ______ by ______.”
Examples:
“Today I proved I can create clarity under pressure by naming the priority before reacting.”
“Today I proved I can make truth safer by asking what I needed to see before correcting.”
“Today I proved I can model ownership by naming my part first.”
Leadership evidence becomes field evidence.
Step 12: Close the Loop
Write:
